I think he might be talking about the glass over wood piece (2"x 4") that was in the early SeaCrafts, eventualy it gave way to the 1/2-4" glassed over PVC pipe. I don't know what year this changed but my '78 has the glassed over PVC. I talked to Mr P awhile back about this piece. The way I understood it, this piece ran fore /aft down the keel to beef it up because most fishermen/guides in south Fl (where most sales were going at that time) were using rollers down the center on the their trailers. The "Float-On" type trailers were not on the market yet.

This wood by no means served as a stringer. I think Dunk is mis-informed [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]
