Bow Rail for a Tsunami

Looks like it might be a little different than what might have been stock but as long as the dimensions work that's fine with me. Like I said, this something Dad wants I prefer the look without it. My only requirement is that it doesn't flare out past the rub rails. I prefer the one piece welded rail to the joints too.

Looks like the same rail on my dad's '82 and that one doesn't flare out past the rub rail.

It does look just like your picture. Is that hatch in your cabin original. What about the two bow cleats? I just have a single center mounted cleat and chocks on each side to run the bow line through.

I showed my Dad the photos here over the long weekend and he definitely still wants to do the bow rail. Where exactly are you? Once I sort out where I'm keeping this thing this summer, I'll circle back with you about getting the bow rail. What would you say to me towing the boat up to you to install the rail in place in order to avoid the welding. Not sure about the idea but thought I'd throw it out there. Also, can you send me an email and let me know what you're looking to get for it? thanks Jon

I have done a fair share of moving boat parts around and that bow rail should not nesesitate cutting or the hassle of towing your boat to his place.

The aft end of the rail should be able to come together and then tie it (they are pretty flexible).This will make the width of the rail much less than 8 feet. Get (2) 2x4's and screw the rail bases to them. now you just made a roof rack with the rail on it. Put it on the roof and off you go...

Yes Trayder is correct, I pulled the ends together with rope and reduced the dimensions to 60” wide x 144” long.

I would like to give you a hand with the install but I have a laundry list of my own: New fuel tank, bottom job, new deck & interior paint, cushions, motor work, etc. etc. etc.

I was just joking. Actually it looks like I might have a slip lined up. I'll know in 2-3 weeks. If so, I'm going to be bringing the boat to a pro to have the awlgrip blasted off the bottom and the bottom painted as well as some refrubishing of the cabin in Feb. If it all works out, I'll try and grab the rail ahead of time and just have him install the rail as well. Thanks for the dimensions I'll be able to use them to figure out how to get it home.
