What oldbluesplayer said. The previous owner of my boat painted the lower unit with bottom paint and doing what Bill outlines above worked like a charm.

I would paint it with PPG Concept. It's a single stage Uthane.

If your planning on spray bomb can's it will never look good. Yes it will be colored, but the thinner's in a spry bomb kick off to fast and will not have a smooth glossy finish.

You decide what you want it to look like.
