I bought one last Summer for my '71 20' and went with a 5000# lift. A 3000# lift would do (I guess), but those motors are going to be right at their capacity (especially the rear motor). Keep in mind that the two lift motors are typically identical yet the one in the back is going to be doing the majority of the work as the engine and other weight is typically toward the stern. If it were me, I'd go a bit higher than 3000# - I don't recall there being a huge price jump between the 3K and the 5K.
