I understand that, but the screw in cable holders stay put in that situation, keeping the free swinging cable short, causing the the transducer to simply smash into the motor well.

I had a similar incident. The transducer broke off it's mount and the cable was not secured. It came a few feet into the cockpit. What a surprise.

While I did not crap my pants, I confess that I checked to make sure.
