Nothing like catching two AJ’S in a row to make you want to take a nice long break from fishing and drink large quantities of Beer.

Thanks guys - lots of fun and a sore back to prove it. Left the dock at about noon on Friday fishing our way out 80+ miles (south of the Horseshoe rigs).

Caught the AJs right at dark-thirty in about 260ft of water. We could not catch anything but kings and small snapper after dark.

Stayed up all night Friday night and got caught in the bad weather that moved across the Gulf from the Panhandle of Florida Saturday AM - did not wet a hook Saturday.. we were in "make it home" mode.

We had some nice AJs but this guy has been KILLING them.. broke the MS state record twice last month..

MS record AJ

Nice catch FishJack. A guy on another site referred to AJ's as "reef donkeys". I thought that name was hilarious.

Nice AJ. What did you catch him on? We were slaying them and the almaco jacks this year. The new butterfly jigs have been working well, but for the big guys nothing beats a nice 2-3lb blue runner.

I put new forum member PCFishslayer on a 56lber back in June and he was done for the day after that.

Good job again on the bruisers!

We were fishing big diamond jigs, live hardtails and pogeys.. not having any luck I tried some big squid we had in the bait box and that was the ticket.. I have seen days (like this) when they would not touch a live bait but would eat/hit other baits.. including jigs...
