I've been told some models were called 1970 because that was the year they were sold and titled, but may have been built in prior years. That would explain a lot...

I'd be interested in seeing an image of the cast name plates you took off your 1970. That's got Moesly written all over it, especially if it says Sea Craft in two words, like Roc Doc's (my former) 1965 Moesly bowrider.
