Default Re: Floor and Transom Materials

Well,i'm a new guy to the board, and will be turning 60 at the end of the month.I'm in the beginning stages of restoration on a 74 Tsunami.I've got quite a bit done, but am now removing the half rotted plywood from the transom.Every time i start on it,i say to myself,i must be nuts doing this at my age.
I restored a couple other boats in years past (wood&alum.)and said i would never do it again, but then this damm Seacraft came along.
When i'm relaxing or going to bed,i try to think how great it's going to be when it's finished, and that i actually have a boat i searched years for.
As for my age,i'll use the same reasoning as the cost of the restoration,"screw it".One of my buddies who fishes with us is 72 and smokes a couple packs of cigarettes a day,and likes a few beers. He has more energy than most of us.
As for the transom,i'm using marine plywood, mostly because i'm comfortable working with it, and had good luck with it in the past,I also have a specialty plywood wholesaler close to me where i can buy it at a good price.
Lets see,30 years transom life, hmm' 60+30=90 No Problem.

PS. thanks to all of you for a great site and great info.
