Well it's been 6 months since I put this thing on the back of the boat and I finally have some numbers for you fellas. 23 SeaCraft with a 250 suzuki 4 stroke, 16x18.5 prop, hard top, bottom paint and a 29 inch bracket. Conditions were FAC 1/2 tank fuel and two guys on board. GPS was used to get the speed and Navman 3100 for the fuel burn.
4000rpm 24 knts 28.8mph 9.5 gph 3.03 mpg 4500rpm 28.5knts 34.2mph 11.0 gph 3.10 mpg 5000rpm 33 knts 39.6mph 16 gph 2.45 mpg 5500rpm 36 knts 43.2mph 19.5 gph 2.21 mpg 6000rpm 39 knts 46.8mph 22.5 gph 2.08 mpg Thanks goes to Tim (Bigshrimpin) for going along with me and for figuring the numbers. One of these days I'll get you on some fish ![]() strick

That's an awsome set-up!!! I'm considering going from the Yam 250 2s to the Suzi 250 4s also. Did you have to change brackets to increase the flotation?? Are you running the alum. or glass bracket??

My attention to detail calculating the MPG isn't exactly 100% rounding up to the nearest hundredth (in case anyone checks my math skills 3.03, 3.11, 2.48, 2.22, 2.08). Anyhoo . . . I am amazed by the fuel burn numbers with this combo.

What is almost unbelieveable is that strick's boat hits 6K easy and will bump the rev limiter with 3 200lb guys and a full tank. I'd be interested to see how his boat would do with a 21pitch.

Sound's like she has more room for tweaking.

With the motor hitting the Rev limiter there is room for some more pitch to be added.
It may slow the boat out of the hole by 1 or 2 secound's, but so what. It should increase the top end speed and lower the cruising RPM to get even better fuel millage. |

Chuck - I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Rev4 19 or 21. You know you want to tweak that boat.

I'd be pretty dang pleased with those numbers Chuck.
I'm at 2.8mpg @ 4200 = 26mph right now. I moved the motor's up 2 holes. It was 2.3mpg @ 4200 =25mph. I'm moving them up to the bottom hole in the near future. I believe I can go up on the pitch too. 18.5's now, going to 20's. I don't have the money for prop's right now. ![]() ![]() |
