I am probably one of the only people who frequent this site who has owned both a Potter built and a newer seacraft. I had a 1978 20 ft. Master Angler that my father actually purchased new for he and I in 1978. We owned the boat until 1995 approx. It was such an excellent boat that it influenced me to buy a 2000 23 ft S/C about 2 years ago. Although I can not comment on the 25 footer as I have never even ridden in one, the quality of my boat is very good. No issues of any kind, except for a very small and superficial gel coat issue around the bait well that I repaired. It may have been caused by previous owner?? The bottom line it has been a great boat. By the way, I may be out there at Anclote as I live 20 minutes away from the boat ramp at the river. If so, I look forward to meeting Eggsuckingdog and the other members.

Steve-Few folks that have Potter era boats have seen your newer 23SF layout. We would love to have you at the event. It is going to be a great time.

why dont you buy a re- done Potter hulled Sea Craft for same price as a newer 25 footer? Then you would not have to worry about quality problems!!! Just a thought

OK You talked me into it. Yah, I have a grill...maybe we can catch some grouper or mackeral to put on it. I certainly hope the weather is good. The last few weekends have been generally nice, but blowing quite a bit. Usually the weather in late April/early May is fantastic as some of the local members can attest to. Is the projected camp site for ClassicSeacrafts still basically on the North end of the island?

N2, don't you have somewhere else to rally support?
BTW, you own a boat yet?

N2K - Am I right about the problem with The tracker "Stretched" boats? or were there issues with other sizes? How did so many 282's fall apart? Who screwed that up?

Finster,
Sorry, but I'm not going to follow your lead. No I don't own one yet, but I have the convenience of having several to use. I'm not trying to rally support. I actually do put owners pictures up at the factory. It helps for everyone to see the fruits of their labor. BigShrimpin, Fell apart? None have that I know of. The SC25 was not a "stretched" boat. Even the origional 282 didn't "fall apart". |
