Hello,
I am looking at a 72 20 foot center console, with a 2000 Suzuki 140 (500hrs, at least), updated wiring, decent electronics, 2 year old trailer, for $6,000. Deck has some soft spots in front of the console, otherwise it looks like the hull is in ok shape. Guessing that I could get a couple seasons out of this set up before having to tear the boat down as well as re-power it. Should I be trying to get a better price, or is this fair? And, is this a worthwhile project? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to becoming an active contributor to this great site! |

It's a fair price, but not a really good price. You can probably do better if you keep lookin'. Course, that depends on how badly you need to get wet offshore.

Thanks frank, good to know. Any ideas on what it would cost to have the hull restored? I could probably do some of the demo work myself, but the rest is probably better left to an expert.

Thats not a bad price if the hull is decent- hull 3K -motor 2K-trailer 1K. If the front floor is the only thing, thats not bad for a boat you can go use a couple years at least, just no jumping jacks up there.

you are in range. i just purchased a "77 20' MA and one main consideration is ...How often do you come across a Potter built Seacraft for sale, close by? It's a great boat and you can't lose. I also think a pretty good price ...act fast

Thanks for the input guys. That boat on ebay was the one I was looking at. Decided I wasn't ready for soft spots and rebuilding decks, so I bought a '95 Grady escape. See you boys out on the water!
