Default 20' Safari; More Engine related the Seacraft

Asking for my brothers '73 Safari with the 140HP I/O.
It seems his carburetor stone filter is getting gummed up with a white silty substance yet the Water separator/filter that is before the Fuel pump is clear. Has anyone had problems with this 'new' gas messing up the aluminum housed Fuel Pump?
