Default New member with questions

I just acquired a seacraft boat, I do not know what year it is, I was told it is a 21' but not to sure about that. It is a center console with an IB/OB 120 horsepower mercruiser with a serial number of 5081187. It has a Bimini top which attaches to the sides and slides on and off of the rails. The fuel cell is under the center console with the fuel fill on top of the center console (this may not be the original position as the floor under the seat between the center console and the engine box has been redone). The rod holders look like old teak wood, and are in the open voids in the bow on either side of the boat, there is a bait well on the port side of the engine box with a single battery box on the starboard. I will provide pictures when possible. But if someone could possibly give me some information on my boat I would greatly appreciate it. I am going to need to rewire the boat, put all new gauges, and replace the shift cable. If any body has any advice or suggestions I a open to any offers. This is my first boat but I have a boating background as I hold a 500 ton near coastal Masters License w/ a towing endorsement.

It was made in 11/87, but the hull# is supposed to be 3 digits, but 508 sounds way too high. Your missing the SIC manufacturer abreviation. Based on your info on the rod holder view thru the inner gunnel cut-out it sounds like a 20

Thanks for the responses I will get some pictures as soon as I can. Also the serial number I gave was on the engine not the hull, all of the other numbers from the hull are faded off of the plate and unreadable. I ordered a new shift cable today and the cable I brought in was from a '72 to a '78 out drive, I am kinda thinking it is around a '72. If it were a '72 20' in good condition could somebody tell me what it would possibly be worth? I got the boat for free and am not planning on selling it, just asking so I can insure it without under insuring it.

What's it worth?

This is a two part answer.

First. we see boats that vintage go from $500 to $10k.
Engines and the shape of the hull, deck, & tansom play a large part in the worth. If you let us know the shape of each main component we could give you a rough estimate.

Second, we have members who will get a free boat like yours and put $25k plus into it. Ask them if it was worth it, and I would think that you would hear a yes in most cases.

Good luck.

I believe it was that early. My '70 has the Fuel tank under the console with the Fill on the Port side of the console. In Later years all boats neede to have the Fills where an Overflow would not land in teh boat. Basically on the gunwhales.

My rear hatches are set up te same also. IS all your hatches made out of Teak Plywood? That is another sign of very early Seacraft.

No the hatches are fiberglass, the fuel tank is under the console with the fill on the top port side of the console, the vent is on the port side of the console also. I just got my camera back, so I will post some pictures when I can a chance.
