Hello all!
Let me start off by saying I’ve been reading this site for a while now, ever since I bought my 1972 20ft Sea Craft 2 years ago, and I am incredibly impressed and humbled by the amount of knowledge some of you have pertaining to your boat. This site has been very helpful and is probably the reason I am even thinking of rebuilding an old boat. First off, I bought my boat two years ago under the pretext that the floor and transom were solid. Well, the floor is very soft and it is time for a repower, which leads to my dilemma: try to sell (emphasis on try) the boat with old power, a soft floor and a probably rotten transom, or rebuild (and raise) the floor and stringers, rebuild the transom and make the boat right, so that it will last for another 20 years. This hull is perfect for what I use it for, so I am willing to invest in it. This is where I turn to you all for help. I am a busy professional who lives in Atlanta while the boat lives in Fort Lauderdale. While I would love to do the work myself, I have neither the time nor the knowledge, so I am soliciting ideas for shops or people who have worked on 20ft Sea Crafts and would be able to basically rebuild the boat. I didn’t know if there was a place (or person for that matter) out there that had a lot of experience rebuilding these boats or not. I would like to keep the boat in either the South Florida area or move it up here with me in the Atlanta area while the work is being done, but I am flexible and looking for ideas. Also, I’m trying to keep the entire project at 25K or less. Let me know if you think this is too tight of a budget. Thanks in advance for any thoughts. |

Welcome Zach to CSC
Some of the guys on this forum from down south might be able to steer you in the right direction. I hear Jose'@ (1)Princeston Boatworks in Miaimi,as a previous SeaCraft glassman, can do the work. (2)Call Mike @ Wildfire Marine in Stuart(772)286-1925, he has done many SeaCrafts. He has quite a waiting list thou. (3) Check with CSC Member (Bonefish) as he resides in Savannah and can maybe get you some help. (4)Don Herman @ Hermco in Jensen Bch. Don is one of the site moderators. Here is his web site------> Hermco Whatever route you choose,Good Luck with your refurb ![]()
