SC 18 repower
I bought Snookerd's 18 which had a Yamaha 130 in need of lower unit and t&t repair. Came across a very good deal on a Yamaha 115 C series which i pulled the trigger on. Any one have a 18 with this combination and what prop would b a good match. I have not consulted with the local prop-tologist but hope to do so this weekend.
Thanks, Harry |

Re: SC 18 repower
Propped correctly, I think it be a great cruiser. It will NOT be great on gas or speed, but will do a good job for you.
I have a 20CC with an (1980) 85 Evinrude that gives 32 MPH at WOT and a great hole shot with a 14 x 15 factory Bombardier aluminum prop. It does burn a lot of fuel (2.5 MPG), but it's paid for...

Re: SC 18 repower
I have an 18 with a 99 150 Johnson, T-top and loaded pretty heavy. A 15x17 Viper stainless gives me a great holeshot,25-27 mph at 3700rpm,40-42mph at 5500 rpm wot. 2.5 mpg at 3700rpm is the best the PIG Johnson will give me(low weight and bullet proof motor though). I had a Michigan apollo 15 3/4x19 on it for a while but wasn't happy with the holeshot. Top speed was the same with wot at 5300rpm. Too much prop for the way i run my boat. Lots of praises about the Mirage Plus on this site, would like to try one myself. If you run your boat heavy, a 15 pitch could be too much, but thats what I would try first. Some marinas do have test props by the way.
