1st of all, if you ordered a 25", insist on a 25". If the dealer gives you difficulty, you can go to BRP customer relations and they will probably straighten things out. They're usually pretty good about that stuff.
2nd, there will be a performance difference, but it will be in your favor. The smaller gearcase has less drag. It is, however, also not as strong at the larger case. Every place you have a coupling is a potential location for trouble and power loss.
