Welcome to this great web site. Congrats on your new purchase.

Please tell us about your recent purchase. Also, please let us know where you live. The more information that you provide should enable us to give you the proper feedback.

For example, let's say you live in Southern NJ. I would then have some decent suggestions. Conversely, there are large Florida, Mid Atlantic and New England contingencies on this web site.

Hope this makes sense.

Peter
Hey Peter

We got a 1975 23', potter built, inboard w/shaft, previous owner owned it since it was new. (will try and past an image below)

We fish out of Perkins Cove, which is in southern Maine.

Had the surveyor look at, he was as thorough as any surveyor I have ever seen and he said it was in great shape. The yellow color that the previous owner had is a bit aggressive, but somehow in person the color grows on you (I admit, when seeing it in pics I thought 'No way are we keeping it that color!'...eventually will change the color but have more important things to spend money on now.

First, the T-top. Any suggestions?

Second, the boat has a big gas inboard in it, the testing showed it had little use and all the numbers came up way better than expected. That said, we are leaning towards putting in a diesel. What would you guys suggest for an engine? We like the Volvo, but people seem to love Yanmars too. What would you guys do?

Appreciate the help.

Chris

It's too bad as I just sold one about three weeks ago. They do show up from time to time. It a matter of how patient you are. The boat looks nice

Thanks Craig! We were real happy to actually find the this boat (my brother deserves all the credit, he was looking hard for a while before finding this), it was exactly the set-up we were looking for. Cannot wait to really put some time on the boat come spring/summer.

Twofinbluna,

The boat looks great. You may want to do a post on http://www.thehulltruth.com and ask the same question. I will definately keep my eyes out for you.

Nice, give me ashout if you are up visiting and want to go fishing!

Its a Ford V8, 235hp. Never been run hard, according the surveyor. Probably end up eventually putting the 225 Volvo into it. A guy in Gloucester just did it with his 1978-9 (roughly) 23' CC. It is sweet.

From the ones I have been on in and after looking at all the boats in the galleries that you guys all have, I dont think that you can go wrong with inboard, I/O, or outboards. They all seem pretty sweet.

Were you happy with your conversion? What HP did you go with ?
