Going to have all the work done for you? Here are some figures:
New deck & transom core, + rebuild stringers = $5K - $7K
New windshield plexiglas = $1.2K
Repower labor incl. new stringer motor mounts - 100 hrs @ $75hr = $7.5K
Repower system = Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI/Bravo I = $15K
New aluminum trailer = $2.4K
PLUS all the miscellaneous like cleats, asstd SS hardware, paint or gelcoat, etc.
Total refurb cost over 2-3 years? $31,000 to $35,000. Worth it? You bet!

I Think the "pucker factor" just went up -off the charts!
It's Lots of work, the cost is justified. Labor is the factor here.
Personally, I'd do most of it myself. It's really hard for me to part with hard earned $$ if I am knowldgeable and physically able.
I have sucessfully rebuilt several other boats in the past.

I wouldn't exactly call it an "investment". If your paying someone else to do it, money-wise, restoring these boats is a black hole. Even if you do most of the labor yourself, your lucky to get your materials and a small fraction of your labor back. The value is in the use and enjoyment. I have seen some really nice boats in the last couple of weeks go for 1/2 of what they were "market valued" a year ago. There are several "project" boats under 2k, and some servicable ones for not a whole lot more.
