I think Im going to probabaly go with the 300 zuke. I think that I should be able to get close to 3 mpg at 30 knot cruise and maybe upwards of 2.25-2.5 at about 40-42 knots. with the standard 100 gal plus ~40 in an external tank in the console I should have comfortable range for veatch/ west Atlantis etc to go load up on YFT and BET.
older engines really arent an option for me. while they may save me some $ in the short run, I CANT have my boat in the shop in the summertime. Not an options with comm bass and charters going. I gotta be able to pay for this thing somehow.

Deuce, was that WOT at "lightest" trim angle? Your pic shows an angle of trim than will keep more hull in the water. I ask 'cause I used to run a 23' CC SeaCraft with twin transom-mount 140 Evinrudes that made a WOT speed of 48 mph. It was the tow-boat for a marina where I worked, and had a T-top as well. I would think you would get more from those Yamadogs.

Fr. Frank,
We only have 2 hours on the engines, so we have not had a chance to do much but some "break in" time. The 49 mph was just a "punch it" to see what would happen. It got up to 6,100 rpm's, so we may have to go up one pitch on the props. We may also have to go up one hole on the engine mounting bracket. Want to get a full load of fuel, people and equipment first. The performance offshore is most important.
