My second piece of wood was a bear to remove. What I did was make vertical and horizontal cuts with a circular saw down to the skin.(try 12*12 size first, and adjust from there) Then I used a wood chisel and pry bar and it came out a lot easier. It seems that a big piece has more leverage, so its harder to budge.
Unless the guys that have gone here before say different: I would not cut the outer skin off.

The circular saw and wood chisel will work well. I also suggest getting a good grinder with 24 or 36 grit discs. I would definitely try to leave the outer skin intact.

thanks. I used the saw on the first few layers, but sure get nervous when it gets this thin. I guess a few slips is easier than the whole thing. a claw hammer was working well on the first few layers also until I swung in though my pinky. I took the rest of the night off.
headed to the store now for the grinder pads/disc. thanks for the input.

the 'copy-catting" continues, thanks again to all for the great information and pictures to follow.
couple of questions. 1. can I use 1/2 inch plywood for the deck some have used it and other not. Is it a matter of opinion. 2. I am obviously raising the deck and am going to attach to existing gunnels. If they are supported and glassed in do I need to worry about flex? could I back fill with foam? Here is where I am at now. Weather has been wet so I couldn't start on transom. Hopefully tomorrow ![]() ![]()

that's mine also. I was going to try and reuse the original floor and I guess it could be salvaged, but I don't want to still be working on it in four months.
Thanks
