Default silver bottom paint

My 76 MA has a silver colored paint showing in places where the black bottom paint is chipping off. Anyone got any ideas what this silver paint is? I was told maybe a barrier coat. It looks just like aluminum.

Default Re: silver bottom paint

Most likely a barrier coat/primer.
