Default Almost there...

I got to my cousins body shop this weekend and finally got the hull painted. Hopefully in the next two weeks, I can get everything on the inside completed and painted.

I'm not exactly sure what the name is. I picked it off of an imron color chart that only had numbers. Dupont seems weird with that kind of stuff.

I love the color scheme. Reminds me of another 23 footer that I have seen on this web site

Peter,
I've always admired your boat. I was worried that the blue would show alot of imperfections, but it turned out alright.

I've been thinking about adding a white boot stripe. What size is yours? It makes it look even better.

Is it painted on or some type of tape?

My boot stripe is a tape that was done by the previous owner. I will measure it and share the numbers with you.

I believe that my paint job is imron as well. Speaking of paint jobs mine is pretty nicked up and I would be considering a repaint. Not sure if I will do imron or go with the Signature

Lastly, speaking of paint jobs i would love to take off my bottom paint underneath the bow (where is does not sit in the water on a consistant basis). I think that leaving that part white would make the dark blue & bright green color combination look even better.

Andrew,

What the paint job done with brushes or a spray gun?
What kind of engine setup will you be putting in?
What will you be doing with trim tabs?

Peter

Snookerd... Thank you for the kind words. I also like blue with the dark red bottom paint, but that seems too classy.

Peter, How long ago was your boat painted?
I am very interested to see how the paint holds up on mine, both on the hull and the deck.

The boat would definately look better with the area below the bow unpainted. The only reason I painted mine was because I didn't know were the water line would end up, and on the 20', the area is not as big. But on a 23' it would look very sharp.

The paint was sprayed by my dads cousin who has been in bodywork for 20-30 yrs. I didn't want to even try to attemp doing the sides, but I will be spraying the inside on my own. I'm not too concerned about it because alot of it is not skid and those areas will be rolled with the non skid additive anyways.

For an engine, I've got a 2001 150 rude ficht (i'm a big fan of fichts despite all of the negativity about them)

For trim tabs, I'm not sure if i'm going to put them on immediately. Eventually, I think i'm going to go with lenco's. I'm not sure If I have room for the bennetts.

Andrew,

I have no idea how long ago my boat was painted. Based upon other posts here it seems that some of our fellow members repaint every ten years or so.

I have looked into seeing if I could fix up the painting nicks on my own. I have not been able to find too much useful ino on touching up imron (other than it does not sound too easy). That is one reason why I am looking at the Signature Series.

Good luck with the rest of the job.

Oh and one other thing. The guy that I bought my boat from had a new deck installed (around 2001 I believe by Young Brothers in Southern NJ). I do have some floor cracks (which my surveyor told me that I should be able to patch up on my own). Also, I will attempt to touch up the deck wiht a new coat of paint as there are sections that are showing some wear.

Peter
