23' CC prop selection, Enertias?, Peter B please

Well, I just picked up a pair of lightly used 19" pitch Rev 4's.Paid less than 50 cents on the dollar (as opposed to buying new). We will see. Now I just got to get the right hub kits.

Hello again,
Well, two weekends ago, with a friend I filled the boat with fuel, water, and oil and went out and recorded a baseline at 500 rpm intervals taking speed, fuel consumption, angle of trim, maximum plane angle, time to plane, maximum speed, maximum rpm, and what trim angle was too much. I then pulled the boat out of the water, swapped the lower units, adjusted the steering from towed out 1/4" to towed in 1/4" to compensate for the reversed rotation, re-launched and went back out. For my application there was almost no negative result from doing this. The boat was faster, and burned the same or less fuel at each rpm. Also, the small rooster tail (approx. 4') that the boat would throw at wide open/trimmed out for speed was gone. The rpms come up faster, and the boat definitely does not want to porpoise like it did before. I feel a little silly, because I had previously run the props spun in for at least a year, and switched them back at one point due to the one negative I had previously experienced- in heavy seas (6-8') the props would blow out easier. I think I have also solved that problem now- this weekend I removed the 12x12 Bennett tabs and replaced them with 12x16 heavy duty Lencos with indicator switch. I ran the boat in 4-6' seas this weekend and it has never performed so well. I will go to the trim tab post to talk more about this.

Peter.....can't wait to see the numbers on the Rev4s...I bet it leaps onto plane and I expect it to plane at a lower speed.

The props arrived today. When the boss at home asked me what was in the box I quickly switched topics. Hopefully, I will try them out either this weekend or the following weekend.
