Re: Teak Spray Rails
No I don't have a template.I laid out enough material on the floor,(I think it was around 19 feet, I went from the transom to the stem)and marked off the taper I was looking for, then cut it on a table saw(band saw would be easier if you have one).Once cut I screwed it from behind to a long peice of 1 by material to hold it in place and I shaped it with a planner and belt sander.
I'm not so sure Ipe will bend enough up forward. If you plan to paint it,you could make relief cuts on the back side to help it bend and once it is installed just fill the cuts with epoxy and cabosil and paint it. |

Re: Teak Spray Rails
They will absolutley help keep spray down. Now,having said that, remember we are talking about little boats and they are going to be wet when it gets a bit snotty, especially a SeaCraft. But you will stay drier with them than without them.As far as pounding, they ain't going to help.
I beleive the only way to stop a 20 foot boat from pounding is pull her back a few hundred. |

Re: Teak Spray Rails
Just jumpin in, seems the conversation has gone from painting to installing, might want to look at "Smart Rails" no cutting or shaping. Take a look at them, people I know who have used them swear by them.
