Default My Classic is officially a Classic Now

Well I decided to make it official. When the State of Florida decided to more than double my annual registration fee this year on my boat I applied for my ANTIQUE registration and got it. I now do not pay the fee to register my boat just the processing fee what ever that is. I always admired those cool cars on the street with Antique license plates now I got my equivalence for the boat.

Boats over 30 years old

And a fine vintage vessel it is... Right on with your right on, Baby!

I heard the Antique Vessel Act(AVA) was part of Obama's tax break for the middle class package, changing hearts and minds for the purpose of preserving an historic FL (you know, preserving old pirates with old boats). No longer will folks ask you what you want with such an ol' boat

Hi Capt. Chuck;

When I got my renewal registration in the mail I send the application that very same day it took 4 weeks for the approval to come back to me.
You could send your application it any time you want. If I were you I would shoot for approx 60 days before your 9/10 renewal. I also send them a copy of my boat survey I had done in 2002 along with my app. That was a bit overkill but I didn’t want anything to slow down the process. The app. asks for the owners OR a licensed marine surveyor to fill out and certify that the vessel meets or exceeds the standards established in 328.72 of the Florida statutes. I felt that the copy of the survey would put any questions to bed.

Ken, Did you keep your FL number or did they
assign you a new one????
That is the only reason I would not
do-it, if they were to give me a new set of
numbers.

See ya, Ken

Your going to love this I just logged onto the Broward county web sight for registering my boat on line it’s going to cost me $4.90 to register for a year now. It would have cost me $49.03 if I wasn’t officially a Classic SeaCraft owner.

No Bones;

The FL # is the same all you have to do after your approval comes in the mail is to log on the Tax man’s sight your Registration fee will have been changed already. Fill out the info and you will get your new renewal in the mail.
Then just put on your renewal sticker Plus the Antique sticker with in 3” of the renewal one.

The Florida Antique Vessel procedure form # is VSRS-01 – top right side.
On the bottom of the form there is a different # - HSMV 80001 (5/92)
The form to be filled out is called Antique Vessel Certification
You mail it in and then wait for approval and Antique vessel sticker. Then go to your tax web and do your thing with $4.90 and SHABAM you will get your renewal in a few days.

Not Bad for a Antique

Looks great, your killing me, I have to wait 8 more years.
I have them on 2 cars, but I may have to buy an older hull just to keep up
That is a sharp looking boat
