Default TRANSOM REPAIR

LOOKING FOR PICKS OF TRANSOM REPAIRS TO DECIDE HOW TO CUT MINE OUT. SEARCHED THE POST'S BUT COULDN'T FIND ANY OF THE GOOD ONE'S I HAD SEEN BEFORE, I STARTED CUTTING FROM THE TOP AND I THINK I NEED TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE GUNNEL'S! SHOULD I REPLACE FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE ?

Check Stricks post. It is the first one on this page. It is a great tutorial. Also my post shows what I did on my transom.

Can redo a transom from either inside or outside. Don Herman, who does this for a living, prefers to do from outside, leaving about 3" or so of original skin all the way around the sides and bottom so you have original surface to use for fairing the new skin into. (Check Don's site for project pictures at Hermco Gallery) Probably depends on whether you're just fixing the transom or also want to modify deck, splashwell, etc.
