Checked out PI and it was pretty nice, the dock is very nice for overnight dockage. Of course right at LWI inlet but not alot to do around there in the ICW headed south, didn't go north much. On the water fuel is all 93 and very expensive 3.50 to 4 a galloon, a beer and a couple shots of Tequila at Sailfish Marina is kinda an eye popper too I think for what we kinda do Durney Key may be better with the islands and beaches around it, plus Shadow and the big 'ol fat hound dog could come.
Another nice factor for Durney is the big rental house very close by for folks not camping too

Hey Danny,
We pissed off the local constabulary while power drifting for livies just outside the fixed bridge in the Boynton cut. They waved us on , but we stayed to get another dozen or so. It was rippin in at a good clip and we were close to the north jetty and the rocks a few times. {Please don`t try this at home. These are highly medicated patients from the most highly regarded sanitarium in the industry.}

It`s been a strange May. 2nd wettest on record. There were early storms all around again, so we hit the shallow reefs and released the prisoners. Got hit hard twice right off the bat. Cut offs. Big kings , some 40 + have been here , but we wanted Muttons. I thought about switching to wire, but I had to be stubborn instead of settling for what was hitting. We were also back drifting at times which still confuses me. Let me know if I`ve left out any excuses.
Going out this weekend. We really needed the rain, but I`ve got a serious Dolphin jones going and I hope to finally run n gun. The weather pattern seems to be back to normal now. Anyone else going out this weekend?
Cheers,
GFS

As soon as I leave trolled from Boynton to LWI with Susan on Monday with a couple very large Bonita's, caught in a downpour at the inlet and ran into Sailfish soaked. Knock the chill off with a couple shots of Cuervo and a beer, back up the ICW after it stopped. Wednesday Denny came out and we trolled Boynton to LWI, wore Denny out on some Bonita- caught in a 30mph downdraft from an offshore storm moving SW back in, 5 miles out - fun ride, soaked with saltwater this time. Started south in the ICW following the rain south and a Severe Thunderstorm meets us heading NE - back to Sailfish and wait it out, again. Keep in mind these storms were coming at 1 to 2 in the afternoon, so not much time to fish any day, and they stayed around most of the evening. Thursday take a cruise down to Boca, stopped at her brothers in Delray on the way, get to the Boca inlet, big nasty coming again - try to run back north -HA- caught us and I jumped under a bridge and fought 50 mph winds and rain wiping around the bulkhead - another fun afternoon, brother came for dinner and no rain = good. Sandy was back Fri and we tried drifting but the kings wouldn't let you fish and the cats won't even eat them. Storms started building again so we had to cut the trolling short but with the west wind most of the week very very little weed and very few flyers. Some fish were caught well offshore but the storms would build right at the coast. Put right at 279 miles per the GPS for the week and really had a great time.
Thanks again to Sandy for letting me leave my trailer and I have found a guy from here that needed a place to leave his boat over there for 4 days so I think I made Sandy a 150 for that - hope that works for ya.

That's pretty close to peak hurricane season, so some risk of getting blown out. It would be really buggy here at that time of year, but maybe ok that far north. What time of year do the first fronts come thru up there to kill off the bugs? I'm thinking October might be better? Just finished doing brakes and a major tune-up on the ol' Dodge, so I'm good to go whenever it is!

I like Durney Key, and I think early October best. Temps have started to cool, and mosquito and sandgnats (noseeums) are fewer as well. That makes a huge difference for the wife and daughter.
