gps question

my friends gps map 492 continues to search for satellite to no avail . Any suggestions

Garmin has good customer service. I believe there is a button combination that resets the unit. I had to reset a handheld years ago.

I have a handheld that when I travelled I would have to go to the menu and (I forget the choice) but basically tell it I changed locations and it would start a new search.

Some strange things going on a few days to a week ago, neither my car gps or boat gps would pick up more then one or two satellites this lasted about 2-3 days now everything is great. Maybe big brother has something going on hmmmmm
