I need some help figuring out the right height to mount my new outboard bracket. It is going on a 23' seacraft with a 250hp suzuki 4 stroke (25" shaft). It has a 26" setback, and A&J Marine in Miami built it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It kinda depends on how your bracket is constructed. Is it a positive flotation bracket? does it have a swim platform? If so you will mount it as low as possible to gain maximum flotation while still allowing the swim platform to remain above water. Usually the keel of the bracket sits about 3-5 inches above the keel of the boat. On my 23 the anticavitation plate of the motor was 4.5 inches above the keel of the boat. Just make sure that you allow yourself enough room to move the motor up on the bracket if you have to.

I installed the exact same bracket on my boat. If you have not mounted it yet, I'll take measurements tommorrow . I can also give you some pointers.

I am going to be mounting a bracket on my boat. I would love to take a look at yours if possible. My boat is in Beaufort and I could probably get some good info from yours. I will send you a PM with my number and if it would be ok will come check it out give me a call.

I would mount the bracket as low as possible for max floatation at rest, and mount the motor as high as possible.
Thats what I did with mine. |
