Re: 1979 20 project started
Congrats on finally splashing her! It must feel great after all that work. You must have been putting in some serious hours to pull it off in 5 months. That is amazing if you ask me.
I have to ask, how did you sand the rounded edges where the new deck met the liner and did you have to recreate the drain area? Also what kind of paint did you spray that you did not have to worry about keeling over dead? I just sprayed my console with gel-coat and have been regretting it because of the insane amount of sanding work. I am about to try a different gun and see if I can get it to go on any smoother. -Muddy |

Re: 1979 20 project started
On the edge where the new deck met the liner I formed a drain channel with cabosil and then sanded it all smooth. The entire boat was sprayed with Awl-Grip whisper grey I Had the boat painted by someone I did spray the primer with a HVLP gun which worked really good!

Re: 1979 20 project started
Question...Do you have power steering on that 200HP Mercury? I have the same engine, but I am thinking about getting a new 150 for my 20 MA at the boat show and I'm not sure I want to spend the extra money for power steering.

Re: 1979 20 project started
It has Hydrolic steering...Not power steering. I think the new verados have "power Steering. ANd mine is an old 150 not 200.
