Bokeelia Boat Ramp
One of our local boat ramps is scheduled to reopen on Monday. Here's the kicker; $1.5 million of our local tax dollars were spent to rebuild the COUNTY FACILITY. Now guess who's going to manage this COUNTY FACILITY? Tropic Star Properties, a private firm who will in turn charge a fee of $10 to use this COUNTY FACILITY. None of this usage fee will be returned to Lee County. My biggest gripe; we have $60 yearly county park passes that will not be accepted at this COUNTY OWNED PARK. Tropic Star Properties owns 2 other Marina/Boat Ramps in the area by the way!! Anyone know of another county park operated in this manner??

Re: Bokeelia Boat Ramp
City of Cedar Key has a boat ramp in a small harbor which they refused to dredge for a long time. At low tide boats were high and dry. I understand it has been dredged. but the bridge to get out of the harbor has only an 8 foot clearance. They charge $10 to launch or $130 annual pass. Cedar Key land owners pay $10 annual fee. However, all the money goes to the city - not a gate keeper.
