They could possibly cause a disturbance in the water flow to your prop with the motor set back. Mine are all the way to the edge and through a pretty good wake when fully deployed.. Something to look at the next time your out.

Bennett also makes a shorter actuator #A1200S that reduces the overall length on the transom Plus they can reduce the stop another one 1” by doing one or both of these things you should have enough room for any bracket and mounting it on the next step outboard. Call Bennett if you need extra room.
