I had one in a 26' silverton for a few years and it never gave me a problem. The boat was SLOW but very stable and you could almost hold a square dance in the cockpit! But, as I said, it was SLOW- 13-15 kt. cruise.
Keep in mind, it had a 10 1/2' beam and about a 23' water line, all powered by 225 HP Chrysler 318 CID. Apparently a bit faster with a 300 HP 350 CID crusader rig. http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1977.../United-States
