Default OB Engine Weight

I have noticed the new Yamaha engines advertising, they are offering a 300 hp 6 cylinder
4 stroke and talking about them having less weight.

I decided to look up the numbers and compare for myself. .

New Yamaha 300 hp 4 Stroke weight is 558 lbs.
E-Tech 2 Stroke 300 hp weight is 528 lbs
Suzuki 300 hp 4 Stroke weight is 604 lbs

I looked up all three with 25” shafts the 30” shafts are apporx. 10 lbs more.

It looks like the general public needing to repower their older boats with lighter engines has finally sunk in.

For me, Yamaha could be a new serious contender for a repower option when that day comes around again.
