My foam was on the sides only. It was also foamed around the fill hose from 4 inches below the cap to the front of the forward wall of the compartment. What a pain to get the hose out. But the tank itself was very easy.

What is the best way to determine if you have an original tank from the 70's?

My coffin box didnt have any drain in it at all when I took it out. I am going to drill a bunch of holes in the botom of mine before it goes back in the boat. I also put a layer of glass on my tank to create a bonded barrier between the foam and aluminum. I hope this will prolong the life of my tank.
