Chased mine for 2 years, my vent was pointing straight down. Turned it to face aft, and no problems since. Also cleaned the screen.

my vent is venting air just fine, I did not fix mine come top find out - I must have moved the fill line when I did the sending unit - won't fill in the water at all now - pull the hatch off again - it must have a low spot in it.

I think captseacraft just had some issues with his vent or fill hose one. He had some good pics too.
