Thermometer in the truck was reading 113 on the black top this weekend, and I was out working on the SeaCraft, can't just let her be 95% finished and just sit. Consumed around 5 gallons of unsweet tea and pee'd once.

Got a lot done this weekend, or at least I'm telling myself that. Going around Sunday afternoon and taking pictures of what had been completed it seems like I barely did anything, but between the breaks for the heat and running up to the hardware store 15 times per day a good deal of work gone done, and a major milestone (at least for me) got done, the rub rail.

To everyone on here who installs a rub rail by themselves, you are my hero, especially a rigid vinyl one. It was like wrestling with a 300lb man after it being coiled up for 4 months. Let it sit in the sun all day, was almost too hot to pick up, but still it kicked our asses and refused to go the way it needed to go. Got it done though, and man does it tie the boat together. Couple of install and finish pics.









All the screws that went anywhere near the transom got a good dip in 5200 before going in.

Its a Taco model# V21-9613, same as Strick and lonesurfer87 and a couple more people on the board I think. I paid out the ass for it (because I had to ship (4) of the 12' long stainless sections, couldn't find it local), but the look is worth it to me.

FYI for anyone who gets this rail, 48' of stainless is enough, but barely, gotta get those bends tight, was sweating not having enough but had a 3/4" overlap!

How do you get the rigid vinyl to make the tight bend at the transom?

Well my transom is flat across the top unlike the rest of the boat which has a lip where the top liner is joined to the boat, this is just the way we did it when we enclosed it. So the lip of the rub rail had to be removed to get it to lay flat on the transom. Removed the red area below just along the transom.



Dremel with a cutting bit made short work of the lip. Removing this also took a lot of the rigidity out of the rail. After that it was a matter of pulling the rail around the bend while lightly heating it with a heat gun, also the occasional rubber mallet knock to keep it tight.
