I did not pull my old hose out so I could use the old one like a snake to pull the new one through with.
It took two guys one pushing and the other pulling I went in from the gas fill side and pulled to the tank side. You could use the same approach with a smaller hose first and use a plastic fitting to attach the two together.

Doing it this way prevents you from putting in a access hole in your boat.
