Default Re: SeaCraft & Sam Ervin Custom Boats on my title.Y?

Your 18 is no doubt a SeaCraft from the Potter era. If on your title it says Sam Ervin Custom Boats that is merely a typical State DMV blunder. I am not aware of Sam Ervin having owned SeaCraft but maybe so. I have seen "SEC" listed as Sam Ervin Custom Boats Mfg code after 1988.

Here is my take (what I learned on CSI ) :
SEC was CG manufacturing code for Seacraft until early '80s when it split sold or went temporarily out of business. Perhaps the code became available and was assigned to Sam Ervin Custom boats of HI in 1988. At some point during a title transfer process the agent looked up SEC in their DMV book and typed in what the publication said. Book was likely published after 1989. Human error. I am human, therefore, I err...

I would take that info down to DMV or AAA and get it corrected to read Seacraft.

My Seavette had logical typos all over the title. U instead of V, etc...
