You're correct about the production numbers, but most of them were center consoles with cuddies. They were made from '84-'85, and in '87 prior to Tracker getting them.

As far as I know, prior to Johnny Morris, only one other was made with twin diesel inboards, that I sold pre-construction to a doctor in Palm Beach County. As of 5 years ago, that boat was still down Marco Island way. It had twin 165hp "natural" Volvo diesels.

Both the single IB and twin IB 27 footers were made with pocket drives. The 27 with twin IB's could actually get into hull depth water (about 2.5') by virtue of small diameter propellers that actually did not extend below the keel, and the rudders were almost exactly keel draft.

It was also produced with twin Seadrives, twin OB transom, and twin IO setup. As I just noted in another post, the Royal Bahamian Defense Force bought 3 OB models in early '85.

Thanks for the response! You said "You Sold" to the Doctor, as a salesperson/dealer? Do you have a #'s breakdown on all the 27's produced? Also I was curious about the ride characteristics, the Doc must be happy with it! I found another pre Tracker 27 that has outboards and was wondering about buying it to redo for about 2sec's...lol After stripping my 27 down completely, I'm cured I swear! Well atleast till I finish this one if I'm still married. Saw a similar thought process to mine where a fellow addict had said after the 2 yr rebuild he was gonna be one pissed of dude if the boat rode like fecal matter but was thrilled by the outcome, prayin for the same, think he had a 23. Anyhow, Happy New Year All!!!

I was the Dockmaster/Service manager at Waterway Marina in Palm Beach Gardens, a Seacraft dealership. The doctor had a 25' Robalo with twin Merc outboards, and I took him fishing with me one day on my 1973 23' SeaCraft. He was absolutely entranced by the ride and seaworthiness of the boat, and when we got back, he demanded a test ride on the only 27' we had in stock, which had twin 230 hp inboards. He wanted diesels, which were not listed as an option, so we called the factory, which agreed to build with diesels of the customer's choice. The next week we flew to Tampa, toured the plant, and he paid for the entire boat up front.

Without any exaggeration, the 27' with twin IB rides like a 40' boat. It is incredibly soft and stable.
