1989 Seacraft 20'CC? and intro.
Hello fellas, gotta say, I love this site. I've been reading the threads on here and there is a lot of knowledge on this site. Everyone seems to be very helpful to the new Seacraft owners. I've been looking at Seacrafts for about a year now and I finally convinced my wife to let me make our first boat purchase together. Anyway, I am interested in a 1989 20' Seacraft CC that is available in my local area. Is the 1989 considered a classic? Or is it too new? Who was building the Seacraft line in 1989? I really hope to be able to purchase this boat and join the Seacraft community. I have a link to the ad for the boat, but I am not sure if I am allowed to post it here in order to ask questions about this boat. Is that against the rules?

'89 is a Tracker. We can all argue the "classic" moniker, but here it refers to the Potter-era boats ('69-'80). Don't let that keep you from buying the '89 or from participating here though. Welcome to the site.

Re: 1989 Seacraft 20'CC? and intro.
Ditto what Scott said above. Tracker boats made some very well built examples of the Mosely variable deadrise hull. Don't let anyone sell you short on that.
Yeah, most SeaCraft owners think there is something of a hierarchy in terms of who oversaw the construction, whether Carl Moesly, Bill Potter, or any of the folks who came after who only did so because they realized what a great design this is, but the truth is that most of the older hulls have been rebuilt in one way or another, anyhow, so they're not "pure" Moesly-built" or "Potter-built" anymore, anyhow. Welcome to the club. Now you're as dis-eased as the rest of us.

Re: 1989 Seacraft 20'CC? and intro.
Thanks fellas, I really appreciate the welcome. I am heading up to look over the boat tomorrow. I love Seacraft and the price seems right for this boat. I've asked about the transom and floor. I was told everything is solid and that there are no issues to be concerned with. Any advice on what to look for would be very helpful. Although the purchase may not be a lot of money for some folks, it is for me. It's a 20' CC with a 200hp on it, is this going to be overpowered?.........I really hope this works out, I love Seacrafts.........should I wait 'til a Potter/Moesely hull comes available?

Dazigg,
I have a classic 1973 20' SF for sale if you are interested. It is an awesome ride and the only reason I am selling is because I now have a 23. Shoot me a note if you want pictures and more information. |

Thanks CaptHoppy, I appreciate that. I'm looking for a center console though......havent figured out how to send a note yet.
I'm excited, I think I will be a boat owner by this time tomorrow. Question, in regards to the fuel tank area? Is there a specific way to check this out? |
