I'm "here" right now, just bought that wonderful $4.19/gal non ethanol gas!!!! Can't be any flatter out there on the water, however the tarpon had lock jaw all day today!!!! Or, I just suck at this! Poop!!
Oh yeah, the Cuban restaurant out front of Caloosa (Habanos) does a nice job of "cooking your catch", much cheaper than Lazy Days. |

Hi DonV
I have been going there for approx 25 years and loving every trip. That Cuban restraint does a pretty good job. I am surprised about the Poons they usually love to play between 4:00 and 7:00 PM each day. Sometimes you can get some live Mullet either from the bait shop or on the sandy beach in front of the pool. There are also some Poons in the marina at night to catch. We lake the Mutton snapper fishing out off the ledge with live bait till approx 1030: AM then head off shore for either Pins or Tuna around the 409 Hump. Let me know how you fishing trip comes along. Naw.....I'm using the flea market hooks!! Actually I think I'm not holding my mouth correctly! Funny thing is I did not see any tarpon caught today, saw plenty just cruising around, lots of folks casting to them, however as we all know they can be such a pain in the ass!! Next to bonefish, I hate tarpon the most.

I had a tarpon once as a pier rat. Tow boat comes out on a weekday and I whistle... he stops and we discuss, he goes out, not on a call mind you, and spins my line on his prop coming in 2 mins. later. Seal kit and slide hammer.

Bones I agree - fair does not come into the fishing discussion - I presume in that neighborhood no need to spend hours on mullet and crabs - they seem to eat dead dines just fine too - at least my $10 worth

Ken, I'm less than a minute from Robbies, the greatest business in America!! They buy frozen 50 pound boxes of shrimper's by-catch no one else wants for dirt cheap, give you about five of the little fish for $3 in a bucket, you go down and throw them at the tarpon and fight of the pelicans.....all day and year long. The ROI has to be just crazy!!!
