Doing away with scuppers

Anyone do away with the scuppers, pro's con's. This would be on an enclosed rear transom boat

For the record I kept mine but I have a 20 inch transom. If I had an enclosed transom I think I'd just get more pump power and stay out of storms in the Bay of Maine

My 23 was like that when I bought it. 2 big bilge pumps. I'm going back with self bailing.

I would not do it! If you do then you are relying on battery power alone to drain your boat in an emergency.

Just the thought of it makes me nervous. Relying solely on electrical in a boat... no thanks. Even with two redundant systems I still don't like it.

I just ordered ping pong ball scupper from TH marine to replace my brand new flapper type. One quarter too much turn on the screws made the flaps not seat right and I might as well have an open hole to the ocean back there even with a 3.5" raised deck. It's dry till the fat boys get back there bottom fishing!
