Well it all started with the wife saying it was okay to buy the boat. Now comes the fun, started out reading everyones rebuilds , how to's and everyone elses experiences. First off LEARNED A TON SO FAR FROM EVERYONE.
Thanks On to my question - have a 1977 CC 23' with the fuel tank aft leaking. Found this after adding 5 gallons and watched it pour out drain plug after coming back out of house. Tore entire CC off, all three floor panels to find a large hole in tank , about 1/8 diam. Wondering if anyone knows where to buy an alum replacement tank. 38" x 28" x 13 1/2 tall. I am contimplating tig welding the small hole, but the tank looks to be original and I am not sure fixing the hole (corrosion on tank) will not be the end to my story of I weld and put back in. 1977 23' CC with Merc 5.7l and bravo 1 outdrive. (boat was repowered by last owner) ![]()

Dont bother trying to fix that tank, tear it out, measure it and replace it. There is more corrosion on the inside for sure.

I think your right, if the outsides pitted, then the inside must look like hell too. Just having a moment of dame brammage. I would hate to be offshore and have the SOB leak again. Other than florida ( far from me) any other ideas on whom in the NE or great lakes makes tanks. I thought about welding one up, but where would I buy the hose ports etc.
