Default Re: do i need a new fuel tank

I replaced the fuel tank on my 1988 23 CC this winter. I had dirt and surface corrosion around the sending unit where I could see the tank. I wanted to redo the console this past winter and thought it would be best to replace the tank while I had the console out of the boat. I'm glad I did. On the botton side of the tank there was a corrion cell that had eaten more than half the the wall thickness away.
On the replacement tank I put the fill elbow, sending unit and pick up tubes on a removeable cover that will allow me to service the pickup tubes and rework the tapped holes that hold the sending unit if I strip one. I can also use it as a clean out.
