Get new o rings for the t stat covers also liberal use of vaseline on the threads and o rings as they can leak and corrode the sparky plugy thingies.

Salt comes out of suspension at 160 deg so you may have some cooling passage blockage. Check that. The motah will run rich w/o stats so decarb the motah as well. My `96 150 runs at 147.

Harbor Freight has infra red temp guns for really short money. Shoot each cylinder on the muffs. Don`t turn the hose on more than half flow or so. Over 45psi or so is a no no.

Change out all lines from the tank to the motah. New Racor and bulb too. Avoid E 10 like the plague.

Use only Champion QL series plugs. I don`t like it either. Your electronics will thank you though.

Some folks seem to like the Pennzoil semi synth. 15 clams @ wally. I also pre mix, but that`s up to you.

Cheers,
GFS

Do all the maintenance mentioned above every two years!! oh yeah, NEVER ever run the engine without water going through the water pump. Even if you don't use the boat very much, spend the time and money for regualr maintenance on the water pump, thermostats, etc. As the commercial says.....you will thank me later. Good luck.

GFS , All Excellent points an recommendations especially the Champion and the decarb, I like to spray Seafoam directly into the cylinders and rotate the flywheel by hand, let it sit 30 minutes then run. It will smoke like hell but that is the carbon being burnt and passed.
