one owner in FL at a shop that does boat customizing as a business and I always wondered what he paid and why he had two Identical boats done over the same color? Two sit behind his water front house.

The price was 22,000 and did not include motor, hardware, or electrical.No electronics either. Just a completed but painted fiberglass boat and the company said they made very little money on it. Others thought he got a completed boat for that price.? the owner supplied the boat and I believe he might have had a few things like trim tabs and fuel tank included in the cost.
Like others have said. I am done after the 20 I am doing now. No more. There are nights I wake up with dreams or night mares? I am not sure which? because of the 20 sea craft I am doing now.

According to a feature article in the Soundings magazine a few months back,Metan Marine charges about $100,000 for a regular 23 Seacraft resto and 125k for one with all the electronic goodies.
The work is beautiful and they go beyond what most would consider a restoration.They even glass in some type of aluminum grid system into the stringers.
Gotta agree with Bigshrimpin,it just boils down to people who have a whole bunch of disposable income and want the bragging rights.

I have to say though after the work I(like most of you) had to do,you couldn't get me to do another no matter what you paid me.
I love,love,love,my 23,but 100 to 175k expenditure ????,I don't think so.

Even for the rich it's hard to justify. They are building off of an existing hull. Some people can wipe with hundred dollar bills and I'd think they were not all there buying that boat at that price.

Here is my grid system....yes it is not aluminum but hoping it will add some value to my boat too!!
I had some left over when I poured my back deck!!!
I have some extra metal studs if anyone needs them!!
Seriously though.....what is an aluminum grid system on a boat.. I looked at the pictures but what is the benefits etc?

Fred,I think you should have called the guys at Metan to do your concrete slab reinforcement with their aluminum grid,it would be much stronger than that cheezy wire stuff that you used(.LOL).
Seriously though I have to agree with you Fred, I don't know how much strength this aluminum grid supposedly offers.Other than providing a good foundation for fasteners,I don't see it being worth the price.
Hell,most of us here are using 30-40 year old hulls just the way they were built with no problems.

Naw......those folks up there are in a league by themselves!! Went to the US Open at Shinnecock Hills in 2004, my brother-in-law and I went into East Hampton to get Mexiacn take out. While waiting on the meal we had two regular everyday Mexican beers at the bar. The meal came and I had to settle up at the bar.....a smooth $12 for two beers....I told the bartender I did not order OR drink a six pack!!!! He had no sense of humor. Then to make it even worse.....the meal for four was a VERY SMOOTH $94 and it tasted like crap and we threw half of it away!!!

SoFla is bad but not like those yahoos!!!!! Sorry to those CSC yahoos up there! Well sorta sorry!
