northern family vacation spot w 23 cc
To my northern brethren , i am looking for a family friendly vacation spot up north maybe between coastal new york or up to mass . Mid june or later looking for good beaches ,boating, fishing ,sights pretty much in that order. Hopefully in the low to med expense range as far as hotels or maybe house rental. We are from va beach and have never been north to the beaches and looking for something new and different. thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Wait till August and head for Cape Cod. Great beaches, boating, and fishing. Did I mention the Bluefins within sight of shore. Also, blues, stripers, flounder. Plenty of family acivities in the area to keep everyone happy.

You could try Martha's Vineyard too. It can get pricey, but if you do your research and book ahead, it's totally worth the trip.

There is a BFT run off Montuak ( 3 miles ) near the end of July. Earlier in the Season off Montauk and the Hamptons/Shinicock there is Fluke, Blues, and Stripers. The Sharking grounds are about 15 - 20 miles and there is also Mahi in the 30 mile range. If you're willing to go out 60+ the Albacore and Yellow Fin bite is in full swing. There are also great beaches. vineyards, a water park and an Aquarium, all on the east end of Long Island.

Cape cod is a very family friendly, boat friendly, vaca spot. Plenty of beaches with nobody around and plenty of places to launch the boat.
PM me if you are thinking about the lower cape, or if you want some links.

We trailer our boat to Marthas Vineyard every year and take the ferry over. It cost $360 round trip and getting ferry reservations can be difficult the longer you wait. You might try the web site weneedavacation.com for rental info and prices. House rental is the way to go as there are very few hotel, motel places. Boat launches are good and if you keep your boat on the trailer you can fish either end of the island with ease. Good luck.
