2-24-12 St Lucie offshore Wahoo
Had family from Indiana down for a couple of days and they wanted to go fishing.
Saw a small window to get out on Friday. Made it out and started the troll East. Finally had a decent knockdown on a flatline hoo with a green skirt. Just as we had the 20lb or so Cow Dolphin almost in gaff range the line parted, :banghead. the main line must have gotton knicked. Decided to keep going, but the seas were really picking up by now. Decided we would troll on in. In about 110 ft the long rt rigger popper and the reel was singing.......:thumbsup. Finally got him boatside and saw stripes, crap this is on mono rigged hoo with a green and yellow feather.. Had one chance to gaff him and in the boat he went, hooked right in the corner of the mouth. The kids had a blast and did not even mind the seas. i am sure they will remember this for a long time, they really enjoyed the fresh fish for dinner too! |

Nice, and nothing better than the family and kids having a good time on the water. We need as many future boaters and fishermen as possible.
How's the eating quality of Wahoo? Being a great lakes guy I don't get the chance to catch one,but I see a lot of them on the saltwater fishing shows.

One of the best table fares out there. Firm but delicious. We even made some sashimi for a appetizer.
