Before doing anything I asked a friend of mine (snowbird) who lives in Bar Harbor Maine, how his buddy who own Redfren Boats in Up Harbor Maine makes his windshields. The answer was biscuits and epoxy. Since I already had a plate cutter that is how I did mine.

Before doing any cutting...I consulted with Carla and we both decided that the windshield frame needed a little flair to match the sheer line.

Back to the design table.



Next, was to take the white oak the was 5/4 and get it down to 4/4



Rip the pieces and label.



When biscuit cutting and gluing I like to get something real flat, so I had this old mirror and it worked well.



Making sure epoxy did not get on every thing taping was a must.



Before and after gluing I think I used every tool I had to make these things look good.




Rough shape trial fit.




Finished shape.



For mounting I wanted to use a hidden mounting system. So I went with Hanger bolts and I think they will work out great.








A lot of sanding and shaping...however I think the fit is really good.






Parting Shot with all three sections...




Need to work on putting the piano hinge in and then this part of the project can be put to sleep until the boat goes into the paint shop...at that time I will finish up the "varnish" part and glass.
